Black Clover

My Anime recommendation for this month is a series called Black Clover. This series follows the journey of 2 orphaned peasant children - Asta & Yuno (more so Asta) - who live in a world of magic. In this World, Magic rules the day, and every citizen is expected to know how to use it. However, for Asta & Yuno, the story is different. While Yuno is extremely gifted in wielding his magic, Asta is unable to wield his at all. In fact, he has no magic to speak of. So Asta trains his physical body as much as possible while hoping that someday his magic will be unleashed.

That day comes on their 15th birthday, when all the 15 year olds in their village receive their Magic Grimoires. Yuno, of course, receives a highly coveted "four-leaf clover grimoire" while Asta at first receives nothing. As they head back home, Yuno is attacked by someone looking to steal his grimoire and Asta comes to his defense. As you might expect, with no magic and no grimoire, Asta gets the crap beaten out of him. But just as he is on the brink of defeat, Asta's grimoire makes its appearance - the dreaded "five-leaf clover" - and with it, he defeats the thief.

Now with their grimoires in hand, Asta & Yuno can pursue their lifelong dream - To become the strongest magic wielder in the land: The Wizard King of Clover Country. This, they promise to pursue as rivals... and so begins the story of Black Clover.

P.S. Black Clover is a long-running series. It has stopped for now at episode 170. So if you get into it, you're in for an exciting long ride.
