Gokushufudou - The Way of the House Husband

Hello everyone. My Anime recommendation for this month is a real riot. Had me laughing my head off in every episode. But unfortunately, it is also very short. Coming in at 5 - 10 episodes per season, there are only 15 episodes to watch so far. That said, let me tell you about the hilarity that you're in for if you pick up this dish.

Gokushufudou chronicles the daily life of a Yakuza gone straight. The main character, "The Immortal Dragon" Tatsu, was a well-known gangster before he decided to turn in his fists for a life on the mild side. Yet as the saying goes, "you can take a man out of the hood, but not the hood out of the man."

Because of this, Tatsu's approach to his new life as a stay-at-home husband is straight out of a comic reel. His new "turf" is his household, his new "goods" are common household items and his new "missions" are regular everyday affairs that most of us go through without a second thought.

It may seem mundane when written out like this, but I'm sure you'll crack a rib when you hear Tatsu talk about how he's got a new batch of that "white stuff" coming in... only to find out that he's talking about flour. These everyday mismatches and other yakuza / house-husband combinations make Gokushufudou a must-watch in my opinion.

Apart from the slight fear that if you know nothing about Japanese Yakuza, you might miss the jokes, I recommend this series wholeheartedly.
