Yepa! I don break my hand o!

I suppose the above would have been what I expected to hear if my life was a poor excuse for a Nollywood movie, when my hand broke a few weeks ago. As it were, I didn't even notice the breakage until hours after my fall.

Earlier this month, I had an unfortunate stumble. I was getting out of the car when my leg got caught on the running board (at least I think that's what it's called) of the car. I lost my balance and then stumbled for a good few metres (all the way until the wall of my compound), before I fell in an unceremonious heap.

If you've never been to visit me at home in Nigeria, the distance over which I stumbled may be hard to imagine. So let's just say, I stumbled from the front of a jeep to the end of three or four cars behind it, all the while trying to regain my balance. So when I finally fell down it was also like I had just run a short sprint. I was out of breath and panting from the exertion.

Of course the other passengers in the car (my Dad, and the Driver) soon noticed what was up, and quickly came to my aid. But by then the deed was done. I had stumbled for several metres, and I had fallen. So they got me up, waited until I had caught my breath, and helped me into the house. Once my Dad had confirmed that I was okay, he and the driver headed off to his office.

As you already know, what I didn't know yet, was that I was not okay. I had fractured my left hand, and a finger on my right hand besides. If it was left to me, I would have just applied an ice-pack or two and called it a day. But my mom insisted that I see our orthopedic doctor, who asked for the X-rays to be done, that eventually revealed my broken bones... and thank God she did, cuz otherwise I may have healed in some weird way.

So that’s the story of my broken bones, and why besides this announcement there's no other content for this month. The doctor said it should take 3-4 weeks to heal so I should be back to regular programming by the middle of next month. Until then, stay safe and take care!
