A Yard with Friends
What is life, without friends? They are the ingredients of our memories, both when we're up and when we're down. But to The Red String they are more than that, they are a reason for being. So let me introduce you to some of my friends, the folks for whom this chronicle is written.
My friendly encounters started right from the pilot edition where I met up with Damilola Jagun: a former classmate who visited me in Philadelphia. But I won't talk about that because I got to see her again, under far more Interesting circumstances.
- Besides her, there was my older, yet very dear friend Alice. Who did me the great favour of allowing me to interview her on the trials of parenting. She had just delivered her twin girls Abigail and Bethany at the time. It is hard to believe that those twins are now a little over a year old.
- Then there were the Adu's - Bisola & Damilola - who I saw during my stay in Nigeria. One of whom also inspired me to write the article Becoming Jaded. They were both doing and looking great and I want to take this time to congratulate Bisola on her new job (not so new now but still fairly recent).
- Again in Nigeria, I got to have a mini A-Hall reunion where I met up with some more old classmates. This time, I met some friends who I hadn't seen in almost 8 years! As Ifeanyi, Ishaq, and even Layide, towered over me I thought to myself: "8 years, and not a damn thing changed." LOL!
- I had that thought again, when I met Shope a few weeks later in Ibadan. Certainly I had changed, but she hadn't - and that was kinda cute.
- And last but not least, I met up with Damilola Jagun for the third time this year. As we both learnt to cook at a chef course run by Double Portion Ltd.
