How I've been since April 2024

It's been a couple of months since I've put pen to paper, A lot has happened, and there's so much to tell ya, Some before, during, and immediately after, I'll lay it out, break it down, and tell you what it's been about.

It's been a couple of months since I've put pen to paper,
A lot has happened, and there's so much to tell ya
Some before, during, and immediately after
I'll lay it out, break it down, and tell you what it's been about

This rhyme came to me in the shower while I was thinking about what to write to you guys. It is not a very good rhyme, but it's been stuck in my head nonetheless. So let me start from a little bit before my disappearance...

Before

As you all know, (because I mentioned it in my last post), I completed my Google Digital Marketing and E-commerce Professional Certificate back in April, and secured my first client, Shelter Origins, around that same time. Work for Shelter Origins began in May with a Preliminary assessment and preparation of a Social Media Marketing Strategy as well as Content Creation for the planned Social Media Campaign which began in June.

This, combined with my day job, is partly what has kept me so busy these last couple of months. My Anime Watching, Reading, and Writing, have all suffered as I get used to being doubly employed. I imagine that as my business grows, I will find ways to cope with the work that will still allow me to enjoy my hobbies.

During

In the middle of all this, I got a new Psychiatrist who diagnosed me once again with B.A.D. (Bipolar Affective Disorder). If you're hearing this for the first time, don't worry, it's not a new diagnosis. I've been on drugs for it since at least 2015 when I left the U.S. I got it organically, as a complication arising from my Sickle Cell Disease, and so now, in addition to my SCD medication, I have drugs to manage my mental health.

My Psychiatrist also recommended a Psychologist (a Therapist so to speak), who I've been seeing every 2 weeks. With him, I'm working on things like Self-Awareness, Assertiveness, Self-Confidence etc. to round out my character a bit more and help me manage my condition.

My AEP 128 class also had its 2nd Quarterly meeting in June. This time, we decided to forego having a speaker and instead discuss amongst ourselves around a decided theme. The theme for Q2 was "Marketing & Sales Strategy" and we held the gathering at the Kulture Yard in Ikeja. Not everyone was able to attend, but enough did for us to have a reasonable discussion. At the end of the day, I came away with this insight:

Marketing & Sales is all about Relationships. How to acquire new relationships, retain existing relationships, and optimize both for the best lifetime value.

Immediately After

This brings us to July. So what have I been up to this month? Well, I've made some progress with my reading. Currently reading a book called "Wired for Story" which seems to be giving me more and more confidence to continue writing my next book. I'm genuinely hoping that by the time I finish reading it, I'll be so pumped up that I'll have no trouble completing my book.

I've also invested in a couple of new courses. One on Copywriting and the other on running a Digital Marketing Agency. It should be obvious why these are relevant. But I haven't started either of them yet. I bought them mainly because they were on sale and I had the money at the time. I'm looking forward to working through the material and learning some new skills.

So as I round up this little update, I hope that I have adequately filled you in and that you also feel adequately caught up. Thanks for sticking with me through it all. My thoughts remain with you as we start this 3rd quarter of 2024.

Thank you for reading.
