The Cocktail

The Cocktail

We had a small cocktail in the lobby after the command performance. It was meant to give people time to mingle, meet the authors, get autographs, and get a little something to eat and drink before heading home for the night but I have no idea how well it accomplished that.

All I know is that from the moment I set foot on the lobby floor, I was surrounded by people. Some knew me, some didn't. Some I recognised, some I didn't. Some I should have recognised, some I shouldn't, and between shaking hands, taking pictures, signing autographs, and looking for my mother (who had conveniently located herself at a table where she signed books until her hands wanted to detach themselves and sue her for overwork) I was too busy to notice much of what was going on around me.

That said, I lied a bit earlier. I know the cocktail went exceedingly well. Not only was it packed with guests, who had a good time and bought copies of the book. The MUSON staff said that it was the first time people were staying back that long after a performance! Usually, people are quick to leave after the show's over. So this was a testament to just how good it all was.
